Settlers Green of Colchester Project and Property Description. Settlers Green of Colchester is southeastern Connecticut's first mixed use sustainable community. Sustainable communities are recognized as futuristic, new economy projects that are built implementing the principles of green buildings, energy/resource efficiency, and environmental conservation. In this new era of development, sustainable communities are designed to promote energy and resource efficiency while having lesser environmental impacts long term than conventional developments have. Our development has many such features, some highlights being pervious surface roadway sections to a potential solar garden which will offset the cost of common area utilities. The development consists of six (6) colonial in style mixed -µse buildings, twenty (20) live and work units for the small business owner, and forty-three (43) traditional townhouses. The development will be "green" rated for resource efficiency and low environmental impact goal achievement under the National Greene Building Standards system of the NAHB. The buildings can be rated for energy and resource efficiency under the national Energy Star program.
