The Colchester public school system is served by the Colchester School District which has approximately 3200 total students and maintains four public schools. Colchester residents attend Colchester Elementary School (Kindergarten to 2nd grade), Jack Jackter Intermediate School (3rd to 5th grade), middle school students attend William J. Johnston Middle School (7th to 8th grade) and high school students attend Bacon Academy (9th to 12th grade).
