Harvest moon over a coastal harbor with a lighthouse, tall ship, sailboats, barn and Ferris wheel — Seaport Community Calendar Issue 15 Seaport Community Calendar · Issue 15

Into the Harvest: Fairs, Fleets & the First Weekends of Fall

September is the shoreline's second season. The beaches are quieter, the harbors are busier, and the calendar turns from summer concerts to country fairs, boat shows, harvest festivals and a few genuinely new traditions — including a drone show over the Thames River. This issue runs from Labor Day weekend through the first weekend of October, from New London and Mystic to the Connecticut River Valley, across South County, and onto Aquidneck Island.

The Last Stretch of Summer & the First Signs of Fall

Summer is not finished yet. August and early September bring some of the shoreline's best reasons to get outside — county fairs, waterfront music, art, theatre, river cruises, road races, cultural festivals, polo, food, boats, and community traditions. This issue takes us from Mystic and Groton to Essex and East Haddam, across South County, and onto Aquidneck Island as one season slowly begins to give way to the next.

Community Calendar Issue 9 - The Small Events Are the Signal Community Calendar • Issue #9

The Small Events Are the Signal

As the weather turns, the four-county shoreline starts to move differently. Vineyards open their lawns, farmers markets return, town greens fill with music, and downtown streets become gathering places again.

What We’re Watching This Season

Across New London County, Middlesex County, Washington County, and Newport County, the most interesting story is not only the large festivals. It is the smaller, recurring, local events that reveal where people are gathering, where businesses are benefiting, and where communities are building real lifestyle momentum.

Big Theme

The large festivals bring the crowds, but the smaller events build the community.
